Continental Bronze Young Hunter on Mineral Base
Era: Late 19th / Early 20th Century (c. 1880–1920)
Style: Vienna Bronze / Continental Cabinet Bronze
Origin: Austria or Germany
Overview: Spirited cast bronze of a youthful Tyrolean hunter or cadet in plumed campaign hat, belted tunic with bandolier, breeches, and knee socks. His clenched right hand once held an implement—likely a rifle, staff, or hunting horn. Rich brown patina, mounted on a natural quartz/feldspar specimen.
Specifications: 7.5"H x 6"W overall. Solid bronze figure on natural mineral base.
Condition: Good antique condition. Figure intact with strong detail and original patina; one handheld accessory absent. Base sound.
Historical Significance: Continental cabinet bronzes, especially Viennese, were prized Victorian/Edwardian decoratives in hunting and folk themes. Natural mineral mounts evoked the cabinet-of-curiosities tradition.
